A PLACE BY THE SEA

Where 'Kettleboys' was indubitably Cornish in its origins and style, CRIBHUT'S play, 'A Place By The Sea', was universal in its themes of loss, courage in the face of tragedy, and redemption. Using mesmerising story telling mixed with original music, the characters of Buzz and Bea, a couple of children's TV entertainers, bought to life by Chris and Karen, used the light-hearted telling of fairy-tales in their show as a distraction from the destructive grief of their shared past. Joined by Wendy Taylor as 'Zoe' and in collaboration with Andy Martin as the set designer and constructor this piece was well received by all who saw it.

REVIEW
With an acclaimed first production in the form of Kettleboys and Captains, Cribhut Theatre found themselves on a mission to create an equal; I’m delighted to report that ‘A Place By The Sea’ has shaped up nicely. The writer weaves a captivating story of Buzz and Bea, television entertainers with a tragic secret. As the story unfolds, we are taken on a journey through their past; finding loss and sadness along the way. There are questions to be answered – who is the beautiful young girl who comes into their life in need of help? And who is the mysterious stranger lurking and watching from a distance? The cast is small in number, but big in talent – Chris Hamilton once again creates a superb music score as well as taking a lead role alongside Karen Burdon, and Wendy Taylor of Rogue Theatre fame as the lost girl. A Place By The Sea will get your feet tapping, it will make you laugh out loud whilst reaching for the tissues. Perfect entertainment for a summer’s evening!
