WENDY TAYLOR
Wendy was born in Braunceston, Leicester and has had the blessing of a rather abstract and unstructured life full of very lovely and extraordinary adventures. It all started in 1985 at the age of 3 when, kneeling at the back of a stage with twenty other girls wearing a grass skirt and doing “Hula hands”, a beautiful senior dancer floated and leaped across the stage. Wendy knew then that she wanted to mesmerise people in the way she had felt in that moment. Aged 5, local floats did not impress. Aged 8, she ended up in holiday land having moved to Cornwall with the folks along with her younger brother and best friend Ben. After joining the brownies, her incessant squabbling, pogo stick energy and refusal to be quiet when others were talking, lead to her being asked to take a lead role in the local Am Dram panto Jack and the Beanstalk. Score! At the same time she began 8 years of studying ballet, tap and jazz with Anne Holland which involved a million exams, hundreds of shows and learning how to do the best slap-head top bun ever! It also led to an invaluable 2 years with Cornwall Youth Dance Company. Aged 16, after completing school, Wendy spent her summer as a magician’s assistant touring the country and performing illusions which she thought was “Fab!” until she was blown out of the back of the trailer one night due to a gas explosion! After a rather wobbly year (post-accident!) she decided to leave her A levels at Truro College and head to The Hub Theatre School in St Austell where she learnt the foundations of her entire existence to come with regards to performing and personal understanding. Aged 19 Wendy auditioned and was selected to become a resident performance artist at the Eden Project and will never forget the day she walked over the hill and found her eyes were met with that incredible sight! This beautiful place became her playground to animate over two years. Next, 21, she was off to Tenerife as a Showgirl where she was introduced to GHDs, a sensitivity to fashion and had the best laughs of her life. Sequins, high kicks, 2 foot high head pieces and fabulous, fabulous people…and a tan! – what more could you ask for? With many adventures already behind her Wendy went on to work at a holiday park in the Isle of Wight, then toured 4 shows throughout the land with Rogue Theatre -another time full of flashes of colour and visual delights. January 2010, aged 27, Wendy was delighted to be invited to join Cribhut Theatre for their 2nd show A Place By the Sea. Her flair, passion and drive for performance made her a perfect partner for the company’s existing members and a quick singing audition with them, according to Chris Hamilton, brought a “beautiful harmonious blend”. Cribhut offers Wendy the perfect opportunity to explore her creativity with a company of like minded individuals who aim to deliver work of a high quality achieved through fun and play.
